Moroccan Pillow Covers: Elevate Your Home with Ethnic Style

Ethnic pillows add a touch of authenticity and warmth to your home, reflecting a rich culture and ancestral craftsmanship. Each pillow is unique, showcasing distinctive patterns, colors, and materials. Far from mass-produced items, they invite you on a journey of discovery, transforming your house into a unique and personalized space.

Moroccan Pillows: A Legacy of Craftsmanship

Morocco boasts a rich textile heritage, renowned worldwide for its woven rugs and blankets. Moroccan pillows are no exception. They embody a time-honored savoir-faire passed down through generations. Moroccan artisans have mastered the art of working with wool, cotton, and cactus silk (sabra) to create authentic and one-of-a-kind pieces.

The Radiance of Cactus Silk

Sabra, also known as cactus silk, is a remarkable material. It is made from the fibers of cactus leaves, boasting a silky and slightly lustrous appearance. Cactus silk pillows are highly prized for their softness and ability to brighten any room. Personally, I find they possess a unique charm, both simple and refined.

Around twenty years ago, Moroccan artisans used sabra to create blankets and pillows in vibrant, shimmering colors, in typical oriental tones. They were often designed with thick stripes in assorted colors (you can still see some in the Medina of Marrakech). These Berber blankets and cactus silk pillows reflected the aesthetic demands of the time.

Today, Moroccan artisans have evolved and adapted to current trends. They have perfected new techniques to meet contemporary demands while preserving their ancestral know-how. Cactus silk pillows are now woven in a single hue, featuring ethnic or Berber patterns. They are artificially aged, giving them a vintage touch. The colors are softer, more subtle, and blend easily into various decor styles. Thanks to this technique, artisans create rugs and pillows for a very trendy bohemian chic touch.

Berber Pillows from Antique Rugs

Berber rugs, with their colorful patterns and high-quality wool, are true treasures of Moroccan craftsmanship. However, some of these rugs, often antique, can no longer be used as they are. Rather than letting them fall into oblivion, Moroccan artisans have found an ingenious way to give them a second life: they transform them into magnificent pillows.

Each Moroccan pillow cover is different, with its own patterns, colors, and story to tell. With these pillows, you know you are embracing authenticity. They are handmade, with natural materials. When you touch the wool, when you admire the patterns, you feel the passion and care that has been invested in each piece. And then, there is the texture, this raw and soft material at the same time, which invites you to relax and unwind. Nothing replaces an authentic pillow, woven by hand, with its irregularities, its imperfections that make all its charm. Nothing to do with mass-produced, industrialized pillows that you see everywhere. With a pillow made from recycled Berber rug, you are assured of having a unique, original piece that is like no other.

Our Ethnic Pillows, Signed Latitude 31n: India Meets Morocco

Our decorative pillows are designed and created by Latitude 31n. They are made from fabrics found in India and handcrafted in Morocco. Each piece is unique and reflects the marriage between two cultures. We love the idea of creating bridges between cultures, and offering pieces that are both a reflection of rich and complementary crafts, but also of our own sensibility.

Hand Block Printed Fabrics from India

The technique of block printing is a traditional Indian know-how, mainly practiced in the regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan. It consists of printing patterns on the fabric using carved wooden blocks. The fabrics thus obtained are of great richness of patterns and nuances. These Indian fabrics bring a touch of exoticism to our pillows. The patterns are varied, ranging from floral to geometric patterns.

Pompons, the Little Moroccan Touch

We have adorned our Indian pillows with fabric pompons held by an attachment made according to a Moroccan technique for making caftans. These pompons bring a touch of fantasy and lightness to our pillows.

How to Decorate with Moroccan Pillow Covers?

Moroccan throw pillows blend beautifully with different decoration styles, from bohemian to vintage to contemporary. You can arrange them on a sofa, an armchair, or a bed. They will surely bring a touch of character and personality to your interior.

Moroccan Throws and Blankets: Warmth and Authenticity

Moroccan throws and blankets are ideal for bringing a touch of warmth and authenticity to your home. They are woven by hand using traditional methods, in wool or cotton, and their patterns are varied. They can be used to warm up in winter, or simply as a decorative element. A Berber wool throw placed on a sofa, or a Moroccan pompom blanket at the end of the bed, will bring a touch of comfort and refinement to your room or living room.

Our pillows and throws are part of a bohemian and ethnic decoration trend. They bring a touch of travel and authenticity to your interior. Bohemian decoration is a style of decoration that invites relaxation and travel. It is characterized by warm colors, natural materials, and handcrafted objects. Ethnic decoration, meanwhile, emphasizes objects from different cultures. It brings a touch of exoticism and diversity to your interior.

You will find all this in our throw pillows, a sensual and emotional escape. Browse our collection of ethnic pillows and let yourself be inspired by the richness of their patterns and colors.
